Well Done in Week 5 & Have A Great Easter!

I want to thank everyone who contributed to making our Easter outreach such a great time!

It was great to have so many people handing out leaflets, cooking pancakes and generally working hard to raise the profile of CBM on campus. Thanks also to everyone who invited friends to the talks on "Is God Really Good".

I want to thank Andrew Laird, our guest speaker, for helping us to think through the issues of God's Goodness. For those who weren't able to be there, here is the outline of what he said:

(1) Why God Might Not be Good
=> The Problems in the World
=> The Problems in my life

(2) The Cause of These Problems
God made the world good (Genesis 1:31)
But humans rebelled against God (sin), the cosequence of which was judgement. The judgement includes broken relationship with God, a broken world and ultimately, death.
Remember, God does not take pleasure in Evil (psalm 5:4)

(3) Why God is Good
=> We see God's goodness at the Cross
God shows his goodness by sending the Son to die for us while we are still his enemies. (Romans 5:8)
=> God's Goodness Seen in Creation
Although the world is marred by sin, we still see God's goodness to us. Psalm 34:8 Taste and see that the Lord is good.
Because we know God loves us we can be sure that God is bringing about what is ultimately best, even in some terribly bad situation (Romans 8:28)

I'll try and post more and continue the conversations at godtalkatuws.blogspot.com

I hope you have a great Easter and I'll look forward to seeing all back on campus.
